CoRe’s Setsaas & Ramsteijn In For Porsche Esports Super Cup 2021!
In what seems like no time at all, we once again are revving up for the 2021 season and focus on the most prestigious simracing series in the world – all eyes look towards the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Super Cup. Starting on January 9th, right through until the end of April, 2021 will go off with a bang, treating us with even more thrilling racing and excitement. A look at the previous season underlines just how fierce and close the competition was in the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup was. Just as last year, CoRe SimRacing will field an extremely strong pairing. Firstly, real-life racer and CoRe SimRacing veteran Sindre Setsaas will return for his second season after an impressive 13th place in the world championships in 2020. Partnering the Norwegian is the teams fresh and promising newcomer, Maxim Ramsteijn, from the Netherlands.
Q : What are your insights from the media day and test race?
Maxim : “I am so excited for this season! I finally did some minor updates to my rig the days before the media day of the Porsche Esports Super Cup 2021 – including that it was already a tricky situation with the updates to the car. But the test races at Interlagos were surprisingly good and exciting. The pace compared to the others was good too! The photo sessions at Le Mans and a few other tracks were a fun experience, looking forward to seeing the content that will be created from this. Overall, I couldn’t have wished for a more positive first event of the series. It gave me confidence for the season. What our pace will be when everyone takes their time to prepare I won’t know until the lights go out. But I’m confident. We definitely can be competitive.”
Sindre : “The media day and the test races were good! I haven’t literally driven a single meter of practice before the media day – so that was pretty out of the box. The only laps I did was in warmup before qualifying and it looked like many others were in the same boat. Qualified P25, climbed 9 positions to P16 in the sprint race, then started P16 in the main race and gave it some overtakes, gaining positions from crashes and finished P2. That was fun, though. It looked really promising for us out there!”
Q : What are your goals and expectations for PESC 2021?
Maxim : “Other than practicing a LOT, not really any plans. Nah jokes aside, my goal is to finish in the Top 20. I don’t know if that’s realistic or not but that’s my goal. I have already proven myself in the qualifiers so I’m quite relaxed about it actually. I don’t have any particular strategy other than trying to finish as high as possible every race. Working together with Sindre is great, obviously to push each other in going faster and developing setups. It’s valuable for me because I may have some pace, but I don’t have any experience in a pro series yet so it is nice to be able to learn from someone who does.”
Sindre : “My aim is to end up in the Top 10 in the championship – mixed with studies I’m unsure how much time I’ll have, though. But it should be more than enough to be competitive. I just need to be dedicated to practice and setup work. Maxim seemed definitely fast at Interlagos straight out of the gate, even without that much practice. I’m sure we’ll be able to improve our pace together even more!”
With the 2021 Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Super Cup starting at the beginning of January, the season brings us to a couple of interesting and famous racing circuits across the globe. We look forward to another exciting and competitive season and keep fingers’ crossed for our CoRe SimRacing squad Maxim Ramsteijn and Sindre Setsaas.
