Double Victory – CoRe’s TCR & GT4 team take victory in #DNLS MAHLE 3h event!
It was an absolutely fantastic show – the last laps of the fifth round of the #DNLS Digitale Nürburgring Langstrecken Series in iRacing provided a breathtaking battle to the finish line. CoRe SimRacing was competing with two teams this time : Marius Golombeck and Patrick Kubinji were the squad behind the CoRe TCR machine while CoRe’s Cayman GT4 entry was filled with Porsche Esports SuperCup drivers Sindre Setsaas and Carl Jansson which also were supported by Matti Sipilä. A flawless performance by both teams gave CoRe another double victory to celebrate.
Carl Jansson took the pole position for the GT4 class category while Marius started the race in 4th. Both teams kept it safe and focused to get through the main race distance without any problems – Patrick, who took over the mid-stint for the TCR squad, was able to advance to the top despite struggling with the rear tyres. Nevertheless he was solid enough to follow SimRC’s TCR which then made it pretty sure that it’ll be a good race to the end. The GT4 team swapped through Sindre and Matti which were able to win the race without any major issues. Then all eyes on the TCR squad, as Marius took over the car after the last stop, exited the pits right in front of SimRC and initiated the battle for the win.
“It was a fantastic race. Carl drove a brilliant lap and secured pole for us. When I was driving we had a lead of around 15 seconds. And we tried to manage this rather than extend it. Everything was perfect today, even with the extra lap that we ended up having to drive after the leader was disqualified at the finish line. That was a little unexpected, but we had enough fuel on board.” – said Sindre at the interview with VCO. Also Marius had to confess : “It was fantastic, it’s so much fun like that. Kudos to the guys at SimRC, it is always great to do battle with them, especially when the difference is half a second on the start-finish straight after a three-hour race. A hard but fair duel.”
