CoRe Back On Sebring Podium

CoRe GT3 & GTE Team 3rd in 2020 Sebring 12 Hours!

The 2020 iRacing 12h of Sebring was once again a very well visited event with more than a thousand drivers and teams registered. CoRe SimRacing joined this years’ venue with three line-ups overall : Janne Kiuru, Carl Jansson and Samuel Libeert in the primary GTE squad in Split 1, supported by Kimmo Suominen, Thomas Gibson and Marius Golombeck in the Split 1 CoRe GT3 Audi. Matti Sipilä, Baptiste Boudelier and Pascal Stix raced the secondary CoRe GTE Porsche in Split 2 which were able to also secure a podium result there.

It was an up and down for the Split 1 GTE squad. Qualifying performance was mediocre due to difficulties with tyre model adjustments and track temperatures – pacewise, a climb to the Top 5 could have been possible. Nevertheless Carl and Janne had to suffer from mistakes and spins. They lost a lot of track time due to that and somehow the team was able to keep themselves in the Top 10 for a time. Anyway, with about two hours to go, Samuel had an unfortunate event with the GT3 leader Williams Esports. With needed repairs and damage afterwards, the team only finished the race 15th in class.

The GT3 squad in Split 1 as well as the secondary GTE team in Split 2 had a better race. Kimmo, Thomas and Marius handled the stinting and traffic pretty good in their CoRe R8 GT3. Sitting around P5, fighting against Blackstar and ineX, the guys were able to advance comfortably to P4 later on and finished the race on the podium. Due to a flawless performance by all three drivers, they were delighted by the result. Same goes to the Split 2 squad including Baptiste, Matti and Pascal, which were able to end the race on the podium. The race broadcasts can be found here : [Part 1] [Part 2]
