CoRe TCR Team Grabs Another P2 At 24h Series!
The fifth round of the NEO 24H Series was taking place at Monza for a six hours race. CoRe SimRacing and its’ TCR team including Thomas Gibson and Kimmo Suominen produced an amazing show for the win – in the Audi RS3 class an exciting fight for the victory started once again against main contender CraigSetupShop. But in the last couple of laps of the race CoRe had to take a step back and be happy with the second place, only.
Thomas qualified 3rd within the TCR class behind polesitter Geodesic and SimRC in front. Team Chimera set themselves on P4 while season leader CraigSetupShop had to start from 5th this time by. As usual here at Monza, due to the track environment and its’ long straights, running in packs and keeping yourself in the draft – it was important to manage fuel. Thomas sat behind the leaders after the start and let the traffic pass by safely in his first double stint. A short lead was maintained by CoRe SimRacing due to solid traffic management, pace and focus. Then, Kimmo took over for this double stint run.
Things seemed to go as planned until Kimmo was punted in turn one after a contact with a Porsche Cup entry. The opportunity of a race lead was lost as a result of that – but Kimmo was able to return to the leading pack of SimRC, CraigSetupShop and MSI. For the last hours of the race Thomas took over again – and the last couple of laps started to be a fantastic show. Several laps of amazing racecraft and battles between CraigSetupShop and CoRe SimRacing entertained the viewers of this round. Nevertheless, Thomas had to set back for second after another unfortunate car contact in turn one. In the end CoRe is happy to grab valuable points. The broadcast of this race can be found here.
