CoRe’s 2020 Daytona 24h

CoRe GT3 Team Grabs P4 In Daytona 24h!

The Daytona 24 is a notorious race looking back at CoRe SimRacing’s former performances in this iRacing special event – the roval always brings sacrifices within the long 24 hours race distance. In this year, the first iRacing special event in 2020, CoRe prepared two AMG GT3 entries including Pascal Stix, Maik Paluch, Janne Kiuru and Samuel Libeert in the #24 car while the #23 entry was filled with Carl Jansson, Sindre Setsaas, Baptiste Boudelier and Matti Sipilä.

Running in the top split out of 26 registered sessions, both CoRe SimRacing teams started in the midfield within the GT3 cars. After six hours of racing both CoRe entries were operating smoothly and were able to settle in 3rd and 6th position. The night transition took the #23 car as a casualty though, Matti had contact with traffic and landed in the oval armco. Due to damage on the car the team behind Matti, Sindre, Carl and Baptiste had to retire.

The CoRe #24 team survived the night stints and was able to advance to fourth position. There was not much to win after main rivarly Wave Italy, SIMMSA and PRT settled with the team in their position after the sun brightened the track again. Janne, Pascal, Maik and Samuel for the ending stint were able to keep their car off any incidents and finished the race in 4th. The team was happy with the result : “Overall impressive organisation through the week. Awesome work from Marius with setups and strategy management. It was enjoyable – even finishing without repairs in this event is an achievement.” The broadcast of this race can be found here : [ Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / Part 4 ]
