And what better way to celebrate than with a delicious meal? Here at ADU, we are thankful for our customers and their continued business and we hope you all have a safe and wonderful holiday! Over the last several weeks, we’ve talked about some of the various preparations you can make to ensure your holiday gathering goes off without a hitch. Today, we wanted to highlight a very special recipe in case you still need a dessert dish to top off your Thanksgiving meal!
Grandma’s Apple Pie
Ingredients
- 1 pastry for a 9-inch double-crust pie
- ½ cup: butter
- 3 tbsp: all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup: water
- ½ cup: sugar
- ½ cup: packed brown sugar
- 8 Granny Smith apples: peeled, cored, and sliced
Baking Instructions
Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Melt the butter in a saucepan and stir flour in to form a paste. Add water, sugar, and brown sugar and bring to a boil, then reduce temperature and let it simmer. Place your bottom crust in a pan and fill with apples. Cover with a lattice work crust. Gently pour the sugar/flour mixture over the crust – take care to not have this mixture run off!
Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350 degrees and continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes until apples are soft.
